Afschin Gandjour is a medical doctor, health economist, and philosopher. His research focuses on cost-effectiveness analysis, decision modeling, and value-based pricing of pharmaceuticals. Gandjour received an M.D. from Hannover Medical School in Germany, an M.B.A. from Duke University, a Ph.D. in health economics from the University of Cologne in Germany, and an M.A. in philosophy from the University of Düsseldorf in Germany. He held faculty positions at the University of Cologne Medical School, Baylor College of Medicine, and Louisiana State University Pennington. He ranks in terms of research productivity among the top professors in business administration in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland (#6 in 2012 and #12 in 2014 out of >2000, according to a ranking by the newspaper Handelsblatt).
